During the six weeks of this course I have studied and learned additional information about instructional strategies and tools that can be used to enhance these strategies within my classroom. The two that are the most interesting for me and that, in my opinion, align best with my teaching skills are "chunking" information and social learning. Each of these are enhanced when used with technology.
The technological tools that are used in my classroom are classroom blogs and the internet as a resource during social settings. Both chunking information into smaller settings and placing students into smaller work groups allows for and provides opportunity for peer encouraged tutoring. I have noticed this setting has raised self esteem in those students that would otherwise not speak out during whole group instruction, which makes for better overall involvement. As for technology, these students are digital natives and take to anything involving a computer. They enjoy being able to communicate with one another even if it is academic.
All in all I enjoy both of these strategies and each work well together as they even make up riddles together in their small groups to learn information and they then disseminate the information the the other class members. Each group takes great pride in their creation, which again makes for a proud moment.
Very Very Kool! You are so talented!!!
